Utility Aggregation information
“We are pleased to remind you that Berlin
Township is providing you with an opportunity to save money on
your electric and/or natural gas bill. On May 7, 2013, your
community passed the issue of electric and natural gas
aggregation on the ballot. By voting FOR electric and natural
gas aggregation, this allows your locally elected officials to
purchase electric generation at a discounted rate for your
Under this aggregation
program residents in the Berlin Township pay a price that is 20% less
per KWH than AEP Ohio’s Price to Compare (conveniently
located on your electric statement) through IGS Energy. IGS
Energy’s price applies to the generation and transmission
portion of your bill. If you are ever unhappy with your service
or rate from IGS Energy, you may cancel free of charge at any
time and return to AEP Ohio. If you have any questions
please call IGS Energy at 1-877-915-4447, weekdays, from 8:00
a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST.
There are three ways to join the program:
1. Contact IGS Energy directly at 877.915.4447
2. Contact the Berlin Township Consultant, Trebel, LLC, at 614.425.4885
Quarterly IGS Energy will send Opt-Out
Letters (Terms and Conditions letter) to all those residents
that have recently moved into the area or that have returned to
the local utility service as a result of an expired supplier
If you do not cancel or
opt-out after receiving the Opt-out letter (21-days to respond),
you will be enrolled in the program until it expires with your
March 2015 billing period. Prior to the end of the March
billing period Trebel will seek out bids from competing
suppliers for the community and again send out letters the
residents outlining the new terms and conditions.
Under this aggregation,
AEP Ohio will continue to maintain the wires system that
delivers power to your home or business. You will still contact
AEP Ohio regarding loss of power service or for any other
concerns or issues having to do with your electric service. You
will continue to receive a single bill from AEP Ohio for your
electric service with your lower IGS Energy rate included.”
