The new Vertex 7000 repeater has been installed and is working great. We now have our own private channel to enhance our communications and provide a backup system for our operations.

Mustang Suits:

We have taken delivery of 2 additional Mustang Suits.

Each suit is completely waterproof with water tight hood and wrist seals, and attached boots. Most importantly, the flotation and insulation performance of Mustang AirSoft™ foam allows users to immerse themselves for long periods of time in icy cold water and maintain mental and physical capabilities.
Each Ice Commander has an integrated chest harness for attachment to tether lines, ice awl pockets for storage, rubber gloves, reinforced knees and non-slip rubber soles on the attached boots. As well, each suit is 45% lighter than other rescue suits as it is made in a high visibility welded nylon shell.

On November 22 we received the Rad-57 Pulse CO-Oximeter. The Rad-57 is a handheld monitor and the first device to accurately measure carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning in the blood noninvasively. Carbon monoxide is an odorless and colorless gas that causes neurological deficits for tens of thousands and death for hundreds of people each year.

Without the ability to measure carbon monoxide in the blood, it is virtually impossible for firefighters, paramedics, and ER clinicians to determine if a patient has the flu, fatigue, or CO poisoning. The ability to quickly and conveniently obtain accurate measurements in any environment can lead to informed and timely treatment decisions, improving patient outcomes, saving lives, and reducing unnecessary costs.

This tool was purchased with money received from the State of Ohio EMS Grant and Berlin Township is the first department in the State of Ohio to be using this new technology.
